Grange Growth Summit

March 16-18

Washington State Grange Membership Director Rusty Hunt along with Malcolm and Cookie Trupp, Co-Membership Directors of the Oregon State Grange, will present a Grange Growth Summit, hosted by the Washington and Oregon State Granges, at Fern Prairie Grange in Clark County March 16-18.

The weekend will be filled with practical hands-on training on how to revitalize old Granges and start new Granges by using teams. The hours are 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday.

There is a registration fee of $25 per person. For your fee you get all the materials and lunch and dinner on Saturday. Make your reservations for the summit by contacting Jan Oleson at the Oregon State Grange in Salem at 503-316-0106. Make your checks out to the Oregon State Grange.

Those attending the summit will have to make their own hotel reservations. The summit is using the Best Western Plus Parkersville Inn & Suites in Washougal. Make your reservations or call (360) 835-9292.

The tentative summit schedule is:

Friday 6 -9 pm Introduction of participants, “Choose Your Altitude” workshop, fun team building activity.
Saturday 8 -9 am Workshop, “Revitalization with Teams.”
  9 -11 am Split into teams. Teams choose leader, assign jobs. Scouting reports of Granges. Teams determine program. Team leaders share programs with the group.
  11 am-Noon Teams travel to Granges.
  Noon-1 pm Teams eat potluck with Grange.
  1 -3 pm Teams implement program.
  3 -4:30 pm Teams travel back to meeting room.
  4:30 -5:30 pm Teams report to group.
  5:30-7 pm Dinner
  7 -9 pm Workshop, “Creating Grange Growth.” Fun Team Building Activity.
Sunday 9 -11 am Future plans for visiting states. Priorities (revitalization /organization).

New State Master Mark Noah

Larry Rea resigned as Oregon State Grange Master effective December 31, 2011. Per our by-laws, Overseer Mark Noah was installed Master on January 1, 2012 and will serve until the a new Master is elected and installed at our 2012 State Grange Convention.

The Executive Committee selected Claudia Boswell of Wallowa Pomona to serve as Overseer until her successor is elected and installed in June.
